A husband and wife are shot to death during a home invasion in Beulah, Fla. Authorities say Byrd and Melanie had 16 children, 12 of them adopted. Eight of the youngsters were at home and asleep while their parents were killed.

Tremor patterns within California's San Andreas Fault show a buildup of underground stress, suggesting an increased risk of a major earthquake, researchers say. Scientists at the University of California, Berkeley, monitored seismic activity within a section of the fault that produced a magnitude-7.8 earthquake in 1857.

Shepard Fairey, who created the famous "Hope" image of Barack Obama, pleads guilty to three charges of vandalism after being accused of plastering his stickers and posters in Boston. Security cameras, which are positioned throughout the building, captured Eridania Rodriguez during her shift but none showed her leaving.
